We have done many Lunch and Learns since Boom Box’s inception ranging from plugin tutorials, to recording techniques, to tips for leading a team of editors. After reviewing reception of the Lunch and Learn blog posts as well as polling our staff on their favorites we have come up with a Lunch and Learn favorites list. The six entries we have chose are in no particular order.
1. Convolution Reverb and Impulse
One of our first Lunch and Learn blog posts, in this post Brad discussed convolution reverb and the process in which the data is collected in order to formulate the reverb.
2. The Basic’s of Weaponiser
A couple of months ago Kylina presented her Lunch and Learn over how to start using the plugin Weaponiser, a sound design sampler that lets you design, customize, and perform sound effects quickly, all from within one plugin.
3. VEHICLE RECORDING
Jacob’s Lunch and Learn about the ins and outs of vehicle recording was an extremely popular subject. In it he goes over the process of micing a 2006 Mustang to capture stellar recordings.
4. Chip Tone
This Lunch and Learn focused on the web-based sound design tool, Chip Tone. Tess went into detail on how you can effectively use Chip Tone to create your own 8-bit retro video game sound effects.
5. Advanced Pro Tools Shortcuts, Tips, and Tricks
Lunch and Learns are really great for deep diving into more conceptual topics, but sometimes it’s great to really hit the basics. Pro Tools is such a powerful multi-faceted program that there are always new things to learn. In this Lunch and Learn Vivian discusses many Pro Tools shortcuts and tips that you might not know. This is a great post for Pro Tools newcomers and old vets alike.
6. Objective-Based Mixing
Lunch and Learns concerning mixing topics seem to be quite popular not only in the Boom Box office but also online. In this blog post Jacob covers goals you should keep in mind while mixing and describes how to best meet these objectives.
This was just a few of our most popular Lunch and Learns. If you liked revisiting some of our favorites be sure to go back and take a look at some of the other Lunch and Learn blog posts we have written!
