Get to know Zanne!
When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in audio post production?
I took a handful of audio post classes at Berklee and really enjoyed the sound-replacement projects we were assigned. All my favorite shows and movies (excluding The Office) are animated, so I think the blend of two loves of animation and sound drew me to this career path. In my job search I referenced the SoundGirls.org directory of women-owned studios in LA, and Boom Box Post is one of six, SIX women owned studios in LA. Out of roughly 3 hundred!
What Grabbed your interest in sound for animated TV series?
More specific to a lot of the work at BBP, I love that our team is creating new sonic experiences for a young audience. It’s such an important time of development when a child’s neuroplasticity is so malleable, and exposure to various auditory environments can really impact cognition.
So far, what is something new you have learned from this position?
Prior to the position, I was not very familiar with the overall audio post-production process, so I think learning the workflow and how each step comes together has given me the most insight thus far.
What is your favorite animated TV show or movie?
I love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. There are so many magical elements to it, and at the end of the day the show is about female friendship and empowerment!
What was the last show you binge watched?
I just rewatched Westworld for the second time. I love the way it interprets what consciousness really means for humanity.
If you had to describe yourself as a sound effect, what would it be?
Probably some sort of toony banana peel splat, I am a child at heart and can be very clumsy.
